jammu, Nov 12: Jammu University has the dubious distinction of violating its own rules and decisions to extend undue benefits to the blue eyed. In another case of this kind that surfaced in the Directorate of Distance Education, an ineligible and incompetent teacher of the rank of Asstt. Professor has been appointed as Coordinator Hindi in gross violation of University Calendar 2010.
A document of University Calendar which is in the possession of Early Times enshrines that "The Directorate of Distance Education JU shall organize P.G. course in Hindi with such teaching and Ministerial staff as may be needed for the introduction of the course. The Directorate will be assisted in running this programme by the Postgraduate Department of Hindi, University of Jammu. It further envisages that Head of the Department/Senior Professor of the Department of Hindi shall act as coordinator for the course and he/she will be paid of Rs. 1000/- per month for the purpose"
Another document available with Early Times transpired that setting aside the University Calendar 2010, Dr. Anju Thappa, who is presently working as Sr. Asstt. Professor Hindi has been appointed as Course Coordinator, Hindi vide order No: DDE/Adm/12/8666-86 Dated 15-5-2012 on the authorization of Vice Chancellor JU keeping at bay the Senior Professor of Hindi of University from this assignment who are available in the Department of Hindi.
The sources further told Early Times that under the Coordinatorship of above teacher, the overall result in the subject of Hindi had been very dismal with preceding years result coming down below ten percent with students feeling disgruntled by poor quality of teaching in the subject ,adding further, the courses disclosed that this teacher has not taken any class of Hindi subject at the Undergraduate level since last nearly five years with no one to take stock of her negligence inimical to the interests of students enrolled in Distance Education annually.
