Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 21: The Jammu Students Morcha (JSM) has flayed the University authorities for disobeying the Jammu University Council, the top decision making body of the University headed by none other than the Chancellor and the Governor order for one person given one posts in the University administration.
Addressing the Press-Conference here today, Vikram Kumar state president JSM, condemned Vice Chancellor as just two day after the resolutions of the previous JU Council meet were circulated, it's obvious violation committed by giving dual charge to a professor who was already head of an academic department.
He also said that 'one man one position' is a universal law and is a matter of common sense which does not need reiteration but a product of Jammu University now turned as Vice Chancellor awfully lacks all these traits to stick to the rules and regulations.
The latest example of violating the recent decision of University Council by the Vice Chancellor soon after its minutes were released, he, disrespecting the official propriety and decorum, went ahead to crush the decision of University Council, which is the highest body, Kumar said adding that one Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia who is head of Remote Sensing Department JU has been given additional charge of Director Sports and Physical Education within couple of days thus infringing the decision of Council to discourage one man one position in the affairs of varsity. He further said that there are many other teachers who are holding more than one administrative position in the campus and citing the names, he added that Prof Anil Raina is HoD EVS and Director Udhampur Campus, Dr. Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academics Affairs and Director DLL, Prof BC Sharma Director Business School and Dean Students Placement. Prof. Rajnikant has been posted as Director Ramnagar Campus. He is also holding the charge of Chief coordinator in all Campus. Prof. Jasbir Singh has been given the charge of Chairman NSS, Course coordinator in Economics DDE, besides Head FM Centre in campus etc.
"Instead of adhocism and giving additional charge to some favourites, the Vice-Chancellor should go for a viable solution by filling these posts on permanent basis," he said.
"We fail to understand that how a person occupying more than one post delivers justice with the administration as well as the students," Kumar said while questioning the rationale behind such move.
He demanded that, "the need of the hour is to decentralize powers. It is highly condemnable that some professors have been given prized positions at the cost of normal functioning of the university".
He added that Pro Chancellor and Chancellor should come forward to save the University from the clutches of inexperienced Vice Chancellor who is hell bent to destroy the whole cadre and academic atmosphere in the campus.
We appeal the Chancellor of University to take cognizance of it and initiate measures to streamline the functioning."
Among those who were present in the press-conference included Renu Gupta, Rohit Gupta and Sanjay Sharma.
