Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar Sept 18: Two government teachers are among the 18 persons who have been booked by police for raising anti-national slogans in the town on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha on September 13 last. The fresh FIRs were registered on the basis of the report submitted by Duty Magistrate under section 196 of CrPC to the government. According to police sources, FIR No 174 under section 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 124 A (Sedition) and 153 A (Promoting Religious Enmity) has been registered at Police Station, Kishtwar. Imam of Umar Mollah Masjid and separatist Abdul Qayoom Mattoo and Imam of Bunastan Masjid, Qari Manzoor Ahmed Ganie have been named in the FIR along with Saif-ud-Baghwan, son of Abdul Jabbar Baghwan of Baghwan Mohallah, Kishtwar. Both Mattoo and Baghwan now figure in five FIRs registered by Kishtwar police against them in the last two months. As per the contents of the FIR, a few had mingled with peaceful processionists and raised anti-national slogans. It says that during the traditional march from Chowghan Ground to the ziyarat of Shah Mohammad Fareed-ud-Din Baghdadi (RTA), the miscreants had again resorted to anti-national sloganeering to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere on the eve of Eid. Some more persons were likely to be booked by police as efforts were on to identify them on the basis of scrutiny of videos and photographic evidences. Those who are named in the FIR included Abdul Qayoom Mattoo of Changroo Mohallah, Saif-ud-Din Baghwan of Baghwan Mohallah, Firdous Ahmed Hamami, Qari Manzoor Ahmed of Astan Pain, Shabir Ahmed Peer of a locality near Post Office, Sayeed Asif of Astanbala (at present Tund), Mohammad Hussain alias Raju of Sangrabata, Danish Ahmed Trak of a locality near Post Office, Ayaz Ahmed of Akhyarabad, Javed Ahmed of Sangrambata, Ashfaq Ahmed of Berwar, Zia Kichloo of Bunastan, Waseem Ahmed of Main Bazar, Syed Awan of Astan Bala, Rashid Gilkar of a locality near Jamia Masjid, Aqib Hussain of Traksana, Amjad Giri of Kamgar Masjid and Mohammad Ashfaq of Dugga. However, none of the accused had so far been arrested by police. It is pertinent that police had also initiated inquiry against several government employees who took part in the anti-national protest and had asked the Head of the Departments to withhold their salaries and ensure the attendance of only those employees who were physically present. The HODs were also warned of action in case the employees were simultaneously found present in the anti-national protests as well as on the attendance register. |
