Huge haul intoxicant drug 'Corex' seized, three held 9/24/2016 11:12:01 PM Early Times Report Ramban, Sept 24: In continuation to its drive to curb the menace of drugs and its circulation among the youth, Ramban Police today claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers alongwith huge haul of syrup (strictly prescription drug) Corex during a special naka laid by police at Ramban. The accused have been identified as Zulfikar Ahmed (truck driver ) son of Abdul Aziz Bhat Labour, tehsil Pahalgam, Anantnag, Gulam Nabi Dar (helper) son of Mohd Ramzan Dar and his associate Zahoor Ahmed son of Mohd Ismail Thokar both resident of Marhama, Lonepora, Bijbehara Anantnag. According to police sources, on specific input, Ramban police laid a special naka and during checking police team intercepted a truck bearing registration no: JK02B-7743, loaded with shoes cartons. "However sensing trouble on seeing the police team, the driver of the vehicle accelerated the truck but alert police personnel chased the vehicle and intercepted it after a hot chase after some distance." "When the truck was subjected to thorough search police team recovered 49 crates having 1200 bottles of Corex (restricted to prescription sale only) which were concealed in poly bags, police said . "During the questioning the trio revealed that they were carrying this consignment for further distribution to locals in Kashmir, police sources said. Sources said, "Accordingly all three accused were taken into custody while 1200 bottles of Corex along with vehicle were seized." In this connection a case under FIR No 113/2016 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban.
