High voltage drama in Forest Minister's meeting at Sidhra | Employees resent Minister's late arrival, boycott meeting | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 17: A high voltage drama was witnessed in the meeting of forest officials called by Forest Minister. Anguished over the late arrival of minister, the Non Gazzetted Forest Official Association (NGFOA) boycotted the meeting and manhandled those who stayed to attend the meeting at Forest Guest House Sidhra, this afternoon. According to sources, Forest Minister Lal Singh called a meeting to review functioning of the department, in which officer of all ranks were summoned. "As per the schedule, the meeting was scheduled for 12 noon, but when minister did not turn up in the guest house even after lapse of two hours beyond scheduled time, infuriated members of association protested with Chief Conservator of Forest, Roshan Jaggi", sources said, and asked officials not to attend the meeting. "But under pressure from senior officers, some officials entered the guest house, following which infuriated members of association manhandled them", sources said. The minister arrived at venue at about 4'O clock and threatened the agitated employees of not conducting their DPC, sources disclosed. Sources further said that to control situation, police had to be called. "Most probably the NGFOA may call a meeting of forest officials tomorrow to chalkout future course of action", they added. "Minister's meetings are hampering the routine working of the department as officers and officials are summoned and then made to wait for the minister for hours", they said. They said that ever since, Ch Lal Singh took over the reins, not a single issue of employees including DPC, eradication of pay anomalies and other problems of employees have been discussed. |
