Farooq wants Parliament to supervise national probe agencies | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 5: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday suggested that national probe agencies should be brought under the supervision of Parliament. “It would be a good thing if national probe agencies are brought under the supervision of the Parliament,” Farooq told reporters here. Pertinently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been investigating the alleged role of the NC President in a money laundering case. The 86-year-old politician has been questioned by the ED into alleged irregularities in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). Farooq Abdullah, who is an MP from Srinagar, was charged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2022. According to the ED officials the case pertains to the diversion of funds from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) to different personal bank accounts of unrelated parties, which also included JKCA office bearers. Additionally, there were unexplained cash withdrawals from the JKCA bank accounts. |
