| Sadhotra flagged off Shobha Yatra of Guru Ravidass Ji at Karwanda | | |  early times report
JAMMU, Jan 25: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Sunday described the message of Sant Guru Ravidass Ji as more relevant than ever in the present times when society is confronted with multiple challenges, including growing hatred, intolerance and social divisions. Addressing a gathering after flagging off the Shobha Yatra organised by Guru Ravidass Sabha at Karwanda in the Jammu North Assembly constituency, Mr Sadhotra said the teachings of the great saint offer a timeless roadmap for building a humane, just and harmonious society. He said that at a time when values of mutual respect and coexistence are under strain, the spiritual wisdom of saints like Guru Ravidass Ji assumes renewed significance. Message of compassion, harmony are more relevant amid rising intolerance. Dwelling at length on the life and teachings of Guru Ravidas ji, the National Conference Addl General Secretary said the revered saint dedicated his life to the upliftment of humanity by preaching equality, love and social justice. He said Guru Ravidass Ji strongly opposed discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or social status and advocated a society founded on dignity and compassion for all. Mr Sadhotra said that the core message of all religions is essentially the same love for fellow human beings, compassion for the weak and harmony among communities. No religion preaches hatred or exclusion. The real essence of faith lies in uniting people and promoting peace, understanding and brotherhood,” he said. Highlighting the historical role of saints and sages, Mr Sadhotra said they have always acted as unifying forces in society, guiding people towards moral values and collective well-being. He said spiritual leaders across generations have inspired humanity to rise above narrow identities and work for the common good. “Saints and sages have consistently brought people together and helped societies overcome divisions,” he added. The former minister said that the National Conference has always stood for unity, brotherhood and an inclusive way of life, in line with the teachings of great saints andsages. He said the party believes in strengthening the bonds of social harmony and ensuring equal respect and opportunities for all sections of society. “Our political and social philosophy is rooted in the values of amity, mutual respect and inclusiveness,” he said. |
