2020: Kashmir centric leaders struggled to remain relevant | VIPs of old times lose address in naya J&K | | Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 31: The year 2020 has been terrible for politicians, especially in Kashmir.
"The leaders, who used to call shots in the past, were seen struggling to remain relevant all throughout the year," an analyst told Early Times.
He said that the recently held District Development Council (DDC) elections provided a "breather" to the politicians as it helped them to make their presence felt. "Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)-an amalgam of Kashmir centric parties-had claimed that it would sweep the DDC polls but it didn't happen. Constituents of the PAGD are in a mess as the leaders of these parties have failed to keep their flock together. Even after winning 110 DDC seats the PAGD is finding it difficult to constitute the boards."
It's in place to mention here that there are reports that winning DDC candidates of the PAGD are in touch with other political formations and are abandoning the amalgam due to the chaos and confusion prevailing within the conglomerate.

According to sources most of the government departments have been infected with the syndrome of promoting employees and officials by giving them adhoc-promotion rather than giving them regular promotions. SRINAGAR, Dec 31: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 95.95 percent after 249 virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals today. Out of 1, 20,971 virus affected people 1, 16,079 people have recovered from the virus up to this date.
The union territory reported 227 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 20,971. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,883 as three more virus affected persons died in the past 24 hours or so.
