Says journos must resist being ‘co-opted by ideology or state

Agencies Mumbai, Dec 31: The freedom of the press was a valuable and sacred right enshrined in the Constitution and a fearless media was essential for an efficient working of democracy, Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana said on Wednesday and maintained journalists must resist being “co-opted by an ideology or the state”. He said a healthy democracy could thrive only with a fearless and independent press, but warned “news mixed with views is a dangerous cocktail”. Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 31: Intensifying offensive against those involved in radicalizing innocent youth, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in Srinagar and arrested one operative of The Resistance Front (TRF). Raids were conducted throughout Thursday at different locations in Kashmir Valley. Identified as Arsalan Feroz alias Arsalan Soub son of Feroz Ahmad Ahanger resident of Zaldagar, M. R. Gunj, Srinagar was arrested in connection with radicalizing, motivating, and recruiting youth in case number RC 32/2021/NIA/DLI.
