Jammu, Jan 10: After returning from a holiday in London, National Conference vice-president and former J&K chief minister, Omar Abdullah on Wednesday remained non-committal on his party entering into the seat sharing agreement with I.N.D.I.A bloc constituents in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Omar advised I.N.D.I.A bloc partners to speed up their seat-sharing talks for the Lok Sabha elections in states such as Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Punjab where their prospects are better. “We are a part of the INDIA alliance. We have a total of six seats including Ladakh and I do not think it will take us more than 15 minutes to take a decision on that.

Jammu, Jan 10: Three days after former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig rejoined the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) former Chief Minister and vice-president of the National Conference Omar Abdullah sought to downplay this political development.
Replying to a question regarding Ghar Wapsi of Baig, Omar Abdullah said that he (Baig) has neither quit the PDP nor joined the Peoples’ Conference.

Jammu, Jan 10: Jailed terrorists continued to enjoy all facilities in the highly fortified Kot-Bhalwal Jail as a smartphone was recovered from the possession of a jailed dreaded terrorist of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
This smartphone is manufactured by the Chinese company POCO. The mobile phone has been confiscated by Jammu and Kashmir Police. The police investigation is ongoing in this regard.
It is not the first time that a mobile phone was recovered from the Kot-Bhawal Jail.

JAMMU, Jan 10: Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) Nitin Agrawal on Wednesday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness of the troops guarding the border with Pakistan on the Jammu frontier, officials said.
Agrawal, who visited areas located close to the International Border (IB), also called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhavan here and briefed him about the security situation along the border.
The DG reviewed the security situation and the operational preparedness of the troops with senior BSF officials.

Srinagar, Jan 10: Dry spell prevailed in Kashmir valley even as the minimum temperature fell by several degrees, intensifying bone chilling conditions, officials said on Wednesday.
The dry weather has resulted in freezing nights and warmer than usual days as Srinagar on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius which was 8.1 degrees higher than usual for this time of the year.
Jammu, the winter capital of the union territory, was colder than Srinagar on Tuesday recording a high of 11.6 degrees Celsius, which was 6.5 degrees below the normal.
