JAMMU, Jan 12: Yet another example of how the ill planning of the past governments resulted in the huge loss to the government exchequer has come to the fore. Improper planning of the Jammu and Kashmir State Overseas Employment Corporation Limited, to set up its office at New Delhi without any meaningful activity, resulted in unproductive expenditure of Rs 47.86 lakh on salary of staff, hiring of premises and other expenses.
Reports informed that the Head Office of the Company failed to select and recommend any candidate to the New Delhi office during the entire period i.e. December 2010 to June 2016. As a result, New Delhi office could not provide services to any candidate. This showed that the office was created without any planning and existed without any meaningful activity. An expenditure of Rs 47.86 lakh incurred on payment of salary of staff and rent of the office premises was thus, rendered unproductive.

SRINAGAR, Jan 12: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 113 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 22,764. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,912 following one fresh death.
Jammu district reported 48 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 24 cases, Baramulla, Pulwama and Udhampur districts five cases each, Samba district four cases, Kupwara district three cases, Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Doda, Ramban and Reasi districts two cases each and Anantnag, Kathua & Poonch districts one case each. POONCH, Jan 12: Former Manager of Jammu Central Corporative Bank’s (JCCB) Mendhar branch has been arrested by police for alleged misappropriation of public money to the tune of approximately Rs 3 crores.
The former Branch Manager Abdul Karim of Uchad Mendhar was arrested after a complaint against him was lodged by one (name withheld) from Thera Mendhar that money deposited by him with the bank has not been deposited in his account, officials said.
Soon, many other complaints were received by the police, the officials added.
