Kashmir's AIIMS to cost Rs 1,828 crore, Jammu's Rs 1,661 crore | 2-types of AIIMS in J&K | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: Discrimination with the people of Jammu province continues unabated. The rise of the BJP to power at the Centre in 2014 has in no way helped the people of Jammu province. They were discriminated against by the successive governments at the Centre between 1947 and 2014 and they didn't get a fair deal even during the BJP regime, which is nearing its end. This, despite the fact that the people of Jammu voted overwhelmingly for the BJP in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2014.
The claim of the BJP that Jammu got its due share at all levels and in all spheres during the BJP regime is as hollow as it is intriguing. The fact of the matter is that the plight of the people of Jammu became more miserable during the BJP's regime and that it, like the Congress, has only discriminated against Jammu and pampered Kashmir.
The latest example is the money sanctioned for the two All India Institute of Medical Sciences -- one each for Jammu province and Kashmir. The other day, the Union Cabinet approved a proposal for three new AIIMS, two in Jammu and one in...

PDP leader quits party to land in trouble
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: A senior politician from central Kashmir, who recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, has landed in trouble as no party looks allegedly interested in accepting him at this point of time.
Sources said the leader in question, who had also remained a minister in the previous government, had recently approached the National Conference to express his willingness in joining them but that the party leadership is said to be unwilling and have sought time to decide about him.
Sources said the NC leadership thinks that welcoming a leader to the party folds "who doesn't refrain from training a gun at public places would be suicidal" for the party.

| | Farooq sidelines Omar, eyes CM's office | Promises moon, stars to lure voters | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: National Conference president and three time chief minister of J&K Dr Farooq Abdullah has completely sidelined his son the NC vice-president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He (Farooq Abdullah) is spearheading the NC's election campaign and is busy making "tall promises."
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that to begin with Farooq Abdullah demoted his son (Omar) from the post of working president of NC to the vice-president of the party and got himself elected as the president of the party. Since that day he has not looked back and has taken complete charge of the party affairs.
A NC leader who wished not to be named said that Farooq ...
| | Oblivious of its own misrule, PDP points finger at Guv Administration | | |
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: Peoples Democratic Party seems to have forgotten that its rule in the state has ended just six months ago and it cannot hold governor administration responsible for the mess it created in the state during its tenure.
On Sunday, the party in a statement accused the Governor administration of ignoring Kashmir in major fields like education and tourism and deliberately freezing the strategies adopted by the PDP government to put these sectors back on track.
However, what the party seems to have forgotten is the fact that when the PDP was ruling the state there were 683 schools in JK which recorded less than 30 percent of the result. Again of out of these ...
| | Govt disrespecting its own rules, prefers juniors to experienced promotees | KAS induction and pathetic state of diversion of departmental slots | | K Koushal
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: Bizzare, but it is true that despite rules, government is allegedly disrespecting its own rules and preferring juniors to experienced promotees.
"If you have put on some three decades of your prime life in the service of the State government, upholding, defending and executing the governance system effectively, don't wait for any incentives because that's something to be reserved for another class of young turks, yet in their probation when you are superannuating", said a official pleading anonymity.
That's exactly what is going to happen as what has been opined by two middle rung KAS officers dealing with the career issues of State bureaucr...
| | Hypocrisy of PDP: Hamid Choudhary elevated for 'supporting' rape accused | | |
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: Appointment of Choudhary Abdul Hamid as vice president and over all in-charge of PDP in Jammu has not only created anger among senior leaders of the party, his elevation has also exposed hypocrisy of PDP because Hamid had supported a rape accused Talib Hussain.
For demanding CBI inquiry into infamous Rassana case, PDP leadership had tagged two former BJP ministers as pro-rapists but party has prized Hamid Choudhary with post of vice president despite the fact he had visited Samba jail on August 12, 2018 in support of Talib Hussain , who has been lodged in the prison for allegedly raping a 30-year-old married woman, who was also his relative.

| | Census figures are cold statistics, but they do have a subtext: Experts | Jammu & Kashmir | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: The concerned and aggrieved people of Jammu region have consistently questioned the 2011 census figures concerning the State and asserted that their population was equal to that of Kashmir, if not more. That their claim seems to be well founded could be seen from what the experts like Sanjeev Nayyar have said on Sunday in Mumbai. They have asserted that "figures are cold statistics, but they do have a subtext".
What has Nayyar said about the 2011 census figures concerning J&K? He has said, "Between 2001 and 2011 the State's population went up by 23.6% whilst the number of voters between 2002 and 2014 went up by 14%" and added that "in absolute terms popul...
| | Battling crisis within PDP, BJP yet to awake from slumber to prepare for next assembly elections | National Conference, Congress leaders' kick-start election campaign | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Reoprt
SRINAGAR, Jan 13: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) coalition partners in the previous Jammu & Kashmir government seem to be in slumber with respect to preparations for the next assembly elections in the state that may be held anytime in the near future.
On the other hand parties like National Conference (NC) and Congress have already started their preparations for the next assembly elections. Leaders of both these parties have been organizing public rallies in the twin capital cities of the state and trying their best to lure the masses towards them.
Both PDP and BJP have failed in Kashmir and Jammu divisions respectively...
