ETT scam: Court directions put Cong leaders in a dock | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 17: Worries ahead for two Congress leaders after directions of the Special Judge Anticorruption Court Jammu, Tahir Khurshid Raina to reopen the infamous Elementary Teacher Training (ETT) institutes scam.
Pinpointing huge lapses in the investigation conducted by the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the scam, Anti-Corruption Court directed a further probe into this high-profile case involving successive education ministers and higher-ups of the education department.
Important to mention here that in 2015 the Crime Branch Kashmir had arrested former chairman BOSE Chairman, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad for his alleged involvement in the scam.
Dar was said to be a "mastermind" in the allotment of the ETT colleges in 2003 without adhering to any rules, regulations, and norms. He was arrested when he was trying to flee to Srinagar from Jammu.

2 LeT terrorists killed in Budgam encounter | | |

Srinagar, Jan 17: Security forces shot dead two local militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) in a brief encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Tuesday morning, police said.
The duo had escaped from an encounter site at Rudbugh Budgam on Sunday.
Police said the encounter took place at a joint checkpoint which was established near Court crossing Budgam.

Jammu, Jan 17: Additional Sessions Judge Anti-Corruption Kathua, Kamlesh Pandit today directed the Anti Corruption Bureau Jammu to further investigate a case related to misappropriation for cement and steel.
The court directed the ACB to further investigate the case registered under FIR 20/2012 of ACB Jammu U/Ss 5(1) (c)(d) r/w section 5(2) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and u/s 467,468,471,120-B and 201 of RPC in which ACB booked then BDO and Store Keeper for misappropriation for cement and steel.

NEW DELHI, Jan 17: Retired director general of the Border Security Force (BSF) Pankaj Kumar Singh was on Monday appointed as deputy national security adviser.
According to an official order, Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed on a re-employment contract for a period of two years. Singh retired as BSF chief on December 31, 2022 When Singh took charge of the BSF on August 31, 2021, he had created history of a son and a father holding the top post of a paramilitary force during their services.
His father and retired IPS officer of the 1959-batch, Prakash Singh, had also headed the BSF from June, 1993 to January, 1994.
