Jammu, Jan 17: National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday challenged the central government to hold elections in Jammu and Kashmir along with the 2024 Lok Sabha polls if it was serious about its idea of ‘one nation, one election’.
He said this government, which talks so much about a simultaneous elections in the country, is unable to put its money where its mouth is, even in one state much less than the entire nation.

The Union Home Ministry has cancelled the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) for alleged violation of laws, a move the public think-tank termed “incomprehensible and disproportionate” and vowed to seek legal recourse against.
When the FCRA registration of an organisation is cancelled or suspended, it is barred from receiving any funding from abroad or foreign donors.
The MHA action came nearly a year after it suspended the NGO’s registration under the FCRA.

A police spokesman said that an information was received at PS City regarding one notorious criminal namely Flex Matoo S/o Vishal Matoo R/o Christan Colony Jammu who was absconding from his arrest.
On this special police team of PS City led by SHO PS City did strenuous efforts and finally arrested the above mentioned absconder. Jammu, Jan 17: Night temperature improved significantly in Jammu as Kashmir continued to shiver with bone chilling cold on Wednesday.
The Meteorological (MeT) Department in a statement said, “Minimum temperature was minus 2.4 in Srinagar, minus 3.2 in Gulmarg and minus 3.9 in Pahalgam today.
“Leh town in Ladakh had minus 9, Kargil minus 7.3 and Drass minus 10.9 as the minimum temperature.
“Jammu city had 6.1, Katra 7.2, Batote 3, Bhaderwah 1 and Banihal minus 0.4 as the night’s lowest temperature”.

New Delhi, Jan 17:
The Patiala House Court on Wednesday remanded Javed Ahmed Mattu to 14 days of judicial custody. Another accused, Mohammad Rafi Nazar, has been released by the court in this case. He will remain in custody in the NIA case.
As per Delhi police, Mattu is allegedly involved in 11 known terror cases, including an attack on residence of SP and CRPF personnel. He was evading arrest for the last 13 years.
Duty Magistrate Isha Singh remanded Javed Ahmed Mattu to 14 days in judicial custody till January 31, 2024.
The court also directed to release Mohd Rafi Nazar if not required in any other case.
