Jammu, Jan 19: Tragedy struck Rajouri’s Badhaal village as the last surviving child of Mohammad Aslam succumbed to a mysterious illness at the ICU of SMGS Hospital in Jammu on Sunday evening, marking the end of an ill-fated family’s ordeal. The death toll from the unidentified disease has now climbed to 17, leaving authorities struggling to identify its cause.

A big fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela on Sunday due to a cylinder blast, engulfing 18 tents in Sector 19, officials said.
No casualty was reported in the incident, the government said in a statement.

Assam Police chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), according to a Personnel Ministry order. Singh is a 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
