Tourism department violates sanction order, outsources assets without approval | Swadesh Darshan drains JK exchequer | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: The much important government of India sponsored tourism project namely Swadesh Darshan has proved to be a flop show- thanks to the lack of seriousness of the babus of Jammu and Kashmir administration.
Documents reveal that two cafeterias at Tourist Reception Centre, Poonch and Nature park, Rajouri were completed in the financial year of 2018-19 at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore. However, as per condition (8) of the sanction order of September 2016 issued by the GoI, the State Government of Jammu and Kashmir should undertake the responsibility for maintenance and management of assets created under the project.
A number of assets like Tourist Information Center, Tourist Cafeteria, Gender-based Toilets, etc. were to be created under the project which required staff like cooks, waiters, receptionists etc. Audit scrutiny of records of three implementing agencies-Dy. Himayat failed to make J&K youth employable, reveals CAG report | ‘Against target to train 53,547 youth, only 4,494 were given training; 732 were placed’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: The report prepared by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has revealed loopholes in the implementation of Himayat scheme in Jammu & Kashmir and has stated that the mission only imparted training to 4494 youth in three and out of those only 732 were placed in different companies. The Himayat scheme was introduced in J&K to make youth employable but, according to the CAG report, the mission failed to deliver.
The CAG report has also pointed out that Rs 314.01 crore sanctioned under Himayat scheme remained unutilized and Rs 23 crore were temporarily embezzled.

JAMMU, Jan 24: Residents of far-flung Dachan area in Kishtwar district have voiced concern over the non-availability of doctors in the Primary Health Centre (PHC). The residents said that on most occasions no doctor is available at the PHC and the patients have to look for other options.

Jammu, Jan 24: Most of the smart traffic lights in Jammu City have turned defunct.
When these lights were installed the administrators had claimed that it would improve the traffic system across Jammu and violators will be penalized through e-challans.
According to the officials Rs 15 crore were spent on installing the smart city lights. “After these lights were installed the feature of capturing violators through imagery was disabled in the very beginning.
