Jammu, Jan 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the era of peace and prosperity has started in Jammu and Kashmir but he vowed to eradicate the menace of terrorism from this part of the country.
Addressing a function after launching the e-bus service in Jammu through video conferencing from New Delhi Union Home Minister said that now Jammu and Kashmir is going through a phase of change and instead of terrorism, bomb blasts, firing, stone pelting, and strikes, studies, schools, colleges, various institutions, industries, and infrastructure are being seen here.
He said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new era of peace and security has started in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Home Minister said that after the abrogation of Article 370, there has been a 70 percent decline in total terrorism-related incidents, an 81 percent reduction in civilian deaths, and a 48 percent decline in the death of security forces, this shows that a new era of happiness and peace has begun in Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K Police again tops in bagging Republic Day gallantry awards | | |

Jammu, Jan 25: With 72 medals in its kitty the Jammu and Kashmir Police once again on the top in taking gallantry medals.
The maximum gallantry medals have been given to Jammu and Kashmir police personnel at 72, followed by 65 to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops, 18 from Maharashtra, 26 from Chhattisgarh, 23 from Jharkhand, 15 from Odisha, eight personnel from Delhi Police and 21 personnel from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Over 1,000 police personnel have been awarded with different categories of gallantry and service medals on the eve of the 75th Republic Day, a government statement said Thursday. This includes 277 gallantry medals.

SRINAGAR, Jan 25: Three ‘hybrid’ terrorists were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on the eve of Republic Day while conducting an arms consignment exchange, officials said on Thursday.
Infiltration into social media groups and precise tracking led to the arrest of the terrorists from the Boniyar area of the Uri sector in north Kashmir averting a major incident ahead of Republic Day, they said.
Officials said swift action underscores Indian Army’s and Jammu and Kashmir Police’s dedication to national security.

SRINAGAR, Jan 25: Jammu and Kashmir could see a prolonged dry spell with the forecast of rains and snowfall at scattered to widespread places over the next few days, officials said on Thursday. The night temperatures in the Kashmir valley saw a rise owing to a cloud cover. Srinagar city recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night, up from previous night’s minus 5.3 degrees Celsius, they said.
The meteorological department has said Jammu and Kashmir’s weather would remain generally cloudy on Thursday with light snow at isolated higher reaches towards the night.
