Jammu, Jan 27: Two days after Congress received a severe setback on seat-sharing in two important states of West Bengal and Punjab, the National Conference showed teeth of the “Grand Old Party”.
Senior National Conference leader and Lok Sabha member from Anantnag Parliamentary constituency Hasnain Masoodi on Saturday asked Congress leaders to learn lessons from West Bengal and Punjab.
“Developments in West Bengal and Punjab are an eye-opener for the Congress party. Instead of behaving arrogantly with the coalition partners Congress leadership must give due respect to the constituents of the INDIA block”, Masoodi said and regretted the Congress leaders are not treating their partners properly.

Srinagar, Jan 27: National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress are at loggerheads over giving up their stake on parliamentary seats in Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times that NC and PDP are yet to reach on any seat sharing consensus and chances of both the parties leaving any seats for each other look bleak. Pertinently, Parliamentary elections are likely to be held in April and May this year. Srinagar, Jan 27: Enforcement Directorate has filed a prosecution complaint against three persons before a Srinagar court in a case related to terror funding in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement a ED spokesperson said that the complaint was filed against Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Kambay and Mohammad Iqbal Khan under Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.
The statement said that the court has taken cognizance of the complaint and issued notices to the accused persons for further trial.

JAMMU, Jan 27: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has closed the toll plaza at Thandikhui in Samba district, a move that is likely to come as a major relief to commuters travelling between Jammu, Samba and Kathua.

India has registered a single-day rise of 159 new COVID-19 infections and the count of active cases of the disease stands at 1,623 in the country, the Union health ministry said on Saturday. One fatality due to the infection was reported in Kerala in a span of 24 hours, according to the data updated by the ministry at 8 am.
The number of daily cases of COVID-19 in the country had dropped to double-digits by December 5, but it began to climb after the emergence of a new variant and the cold weather conditions.

Srinagar, Jan 27: Higher reaches of Kashmir received light rain and snowfall during the past 24 hours ending the prolonged dry spell in the region, officials said on Saturday.
The Meteorological (MeT) department has predicted wet weather till February 3.
The accumulation of snow has forced closure of Mughal Road- that connects Poonch and Rajouri districts in the Jammu region with south Kashmir's Shopian district- and the Srinagar-Leh highway on Saturday.
