Jammu, Jan 2: Taking serious note of the recent terror attacks in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah on Tuesday instructed to strengthen the counter-terrorism operations and the need for the complete elimination of terror eco-system.
He also advised the security agencies for appropriate deployment in vulnerable areas. He reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism.

| | MHA likely to notify 3 criminal laws before Jan 26 | | | New Delhi, Jan 2: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is all set to notify the three new criminal justice acts replacing colonial laws namely the IPC, the CrPC and the Evidence Act before January 26, official sources said.
The procedure to notify the three new laws– Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam– started soon after President Droupadi Murmu on December 25 gave her assent.

SRINAGAR, Jan 2: A thin layer of ice has formed over the surface of the Dal Lake as the minimum temperature in Srinagar on Monday night was minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, officials said.
The residents of the lake, who live in houseboats, had a tough time breaking the ice layer while roving their boats towards the banks.
Water supply pipes have frozen in many areas of Kashmir due to extreme cold wave conditions.

| | 312 new Covid cases detected till date | | | NEW DLEHI, Dec 2: A total of 312 cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been detected in the country so far, with about 47 per cent of them recorded in Kerala, according to the INSACOG’s data updated on Tuesday.
Ten states and Union territories have so far detected the presence of the JN.1 sub-variant of the virus.
These states are Kerala (147), Goa (51), Gujarat (34), Maharashtra (26), Tamil Nadu (22), Delhi (16), Karnataka (eight), Rajasthan (five), Telangana (two) and Odisha (one), according to the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG).

JAMMU, Jan 2: A mobile phone without a SIM, an earphone and an adapter were seized from the premises of the high security central jail at Kot Bhalwal in Jammu, a police official said on Tuesday.
The seizure was made from a polythene bag found lying in an open area inside the prison complex, the official said.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel guarding the prison that houses foreign and local terrorists noticed the polythene bag and informed the police station concerned, he said.
