Agencies worried about involvement of teachers in terror activities | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: The involvement of teachers in terror activities raised alarm among higher-ups of the security agencies because after repeated intervals teachers were found involved in preaching terrorism.
Although some terror-friendly teachers have been sacked during the last two years, the direct involvement of many others were established in terror activities.
Within two months after arresting a government teacher for handling a cross-border terror module in Poonch district, security forces on Saturday busted another terror module in the Karnah area of Kupwara.
Five terrorists were arrested and a government teacher was heading this cross-border terror module. The arrested terrorists were involved in collecting arms smuggled from across the border by two Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) based terrorists.
Among the five terrorists arrested by the police, Khursheed Ahmad Rather son of the late Mohammad Yousuf Rather resident of Gabra, Karnah was a government teacher.

SRINAGAR, Jan 30: Police on Tuesday attached the property of a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Police said a n under-construction house on land Shamilat (4) bearing survey No. 220 belonging to a notorious drug peddler identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Gadihama, Kulgam, was attached under Section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act 1985.

Srinagar, Jan 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Tuesday produced chargesheet against three accused before NIA Court in Baramulla.
The chargeheet was produced against Showkat Ali Awan, Ahmad Din Khatana and Mohammad Sideeq Khatana, all residents of Churunda Uri Baramulla- in a case registered last year.
Police said the chargesheet of case FIR No. 103/2023 under section 7/25 IA Act 13, 18, 23 and 39 UAPA of Police Station Uri under investigation with SIU Baramulla was produced before the Court of Additional Sessions Judge (NIA Court) Baramulla.

JAMMU, Jan 30: Police on Tuesday averted a major tragedy by recovering two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) fitted with Malaysian-origin batteries in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesman said that during an early morning search operation conducted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of District Police Kathua along the Bein Nalla near cremation grounds, two suspicious objects packed in polythene were discovered hidden in bushes.
“Acting promptly, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to inspect the objects. Upon examination, it was revealed that both items were improvised explosive devices (IEDs),” said the spokesman.
