Srinagar, Jan 4: Even as a young girl from Jammu and Kashmir made the entire country proud when she won the World Kickboxing Championship in 2016, the state government is allegedly least bothered about the promotion of the game.
Officials said the national level kickboxing championship has commenced in Dehradun but that the team from Jammu and Kashmir is the only one, which is not enjoying any patronage from the state government at the event.
Around two dozen sportsmen from the state, who are representing Jammu and Kashmir at the event, are understood to have gone there out of their own resources.
Sources said the J&K Youth Services and Sports department and the Sports Council allegedly didn't show any interest towards the promotion of the event.
The parents of some of the contesting wards while talking to Early Times said they took their kids to the event out of other own expenses.
"All the students have come here out of their own resources as the Jammu and Kashmir Government is simply missing from the scene," the parents said.

jammu, Jan 4: Is India a state or a banana republic where one can even preach secession and goes scot-free? The manner in which Shah Faesal, an IAS of 2010 batch and presently Director, School Education, Kashmir, conducted himself the other day and the manner in which the Union Government apparently ignored what he said in writing do suggest that there is something fundamentally wrong with the Indian state.
The case in point is what Faesal, along with Mehboob Makhdoomi, wrote in a national daily Indian Express (Jan 3). They in their article "A paradox in the Valley", among other things, wrote: "The perception that it is not ballot but the deep-state that changes regimes... | |

The BJP fielded 26 candidates in all the 26 wards into which Ladakh was divided and the Ladakhis inflicted a humiliating defeat on the BJP. It couldn't win even one out of 26 wards.
