Senior PDP leader, ousted counterpart turn ‘arch rivals in race for power’ | | |

Srinagar, Jan 4: A senior Peoples Democratic Party leader from north Kashmir has been in race with an ousted PDP leader for the past over a month since the two groups had met in the national capital cordially but ended up having “strained relations.”
Sources said the senior PDP leader, who is also a prominent lawyer, and the ousted PDP leader had met at a party in the New Delhi in the last week on November 2019 in presence of leaders from some national parties.
Sources said at the meeting it was resolved that the senior PDP leader who holds influence in Baramulla district should be seen as the “most mature face, capable of holding any key position in Jammu and Kashmir in the coming times.”
Sources said the development had unnerved the ousted PDP leader who is also a businessman-turned- politician and that he started working on a plot to gain individual support from Kashmiri politicians who could otherwise extend support to the senior PDP leader from Baramulla.

JAMMU, Jan 4: Working President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J P Nadda has hinted that Kashmir centric politicians, who were involved in corrupt practices in the past, are likely to end up in jail.“The law such as the Prevention of Anti-Corruption Act was not implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, so the leaders could have their way out despite being involved in corruption,” Nadda said. Jammu, Jan 4: Pakistani troops made the highest number of ceasefire violations in the last 16 years along the J&K border in 2019, amounting to over 3,200 instances or an average of nine such violations daily.
Shelling and firing by Pakistani troops was "very heavy" in 2019, virtually making the 2003 India-Pakistan border truce "redundant", officials said.
There have been 3,289 ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Indo-Pak border in 2019, they said.
Of these, 1,565 ceasefire violations took place since August 2019, after the Indian government abrogated Article 370 and bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories.

Large scale conversion of agricultural land into horticulture, unplanned construction including residential colonies, factories, brick kilns, shopping complexes and other commercial infrastructure have come across as prime reasons for the damage of agricultural land.
As per official figures of Agriculture Department, Kashmir had 4,67,700-hectares of agriculture land in 2015 which has shrunk to 3,89,000 hectares till 2018.
