Jammu rejects PDP, Mehbooba ruins her father's hard work | Of 140 DDC seats PDP wins one | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: Notwithstanding tall claims of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, people of Jammu region have out-rightly rejected her party in the just concluded District Development Councils (DDCs) elections.
Mehbooba Mufti is claiming that people of the whole J&K have endorsed a stand taken by her party but the results of DDC is an indication that PDP has been completely routed in Jammu province.
While as another Kashmir centric party-National Conference performed well in most parts of Jammu province, residents of Jammu completely rejected PDP.
Out of total 140 DDC seats in Jammu province, PDP managed to win only one seat from Nowshera.
In the remaining 139 seats across Jammu province Mehbooba Mufti’s could not get respectable votes. Even in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri which was once considered as PDP’s bastions in Jammu province, the party failed to open its account. In the 2014 Assembly election, PDP had won three seats from Poonch and Rajouri and secured respectable votes but in the DDCs election performance of the party was a ‘big zero’.... | |

Jammu, Jan 4: While the National Conference (NC) has wasted no time in approaching Congress to capture District Development Council of Ramban district, party leadership is hesitating to take support of its arch rival PDP in Kashmir Valley.
In Ramban district NC has secured six seats and Congress two and three each by Independents and BJP. As the NC has sought support from the Congress the latter offered unconditional support to the former to capture the DDC.
After capturing Ramban, both the parties will form DDC in Kishtwar district where NC has won six seats and Congress three.

Jammu, Jan 4: Alleged lackadaisical attitude of the officials of the Revenue Department to levy the stamp duty properly led to the loss of Rs 6.72 lakh during the rule of Peoples Democratic Party in the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State.
Documents in possession of the Early Times reveal that in terms of Article 18 of Schedule I of the Stamp Act, stamp duty is to be charged at the rate of seven per cent of the market value for conveyance where land or estate is within the urban area and five per cent of market value where the land or estate is within rural area. Same rates were also to be applied in respect of gift deeds as per Article 27 of the above schedule.

Sources said following allegations of funding by a terror financer who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2017, the former JNU leader’s relations with the “comrades” have run into rough weather.
