Mehbooba non-committal to contest Assembly elections under PAGD banner | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 5: Former chief minister and president of PDP, Mehbooba Mufti is non-committal about contesting assembly elections together with other constituents under the banner of Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration. (PAGD).
During an interview with a news channel she avoided direct reply on contesting elections under the banner of PAGD.
When asked, “will the PAGD parties fight assembly elections together as and when they are held? Are the parties willing to give up their identities and merge?”, she gave a confusing reply.
“We will cross that bridge when we come to it. In the history of J&K no election has been a solution to the Kashmir problem. At the cost of repeating myself, PAGD was created for a larger purpose”, she replied.
She has called the Centre's move to repeal Article 370 clauses as illegal, unconstitutional and unilateral. The PDP chief believes the speedy and systematic change of ground rules is aimed to disempower and dispossess residents of the erstwhile state.

Jammu, Jan 5: The Jammu University (JU) saw another major shake-up on Monday as the examination wing got its fourth Controller of Examination (COE) during the tenure of incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Prof M K Dhar.
Apart from the COE, the University got 5th Registrar, 4th Director College Development Council (CDC) and Director, Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) under Prof M K Dhar’s alleged ‘misrule’.

Jammu, Jan 5: Pakistan based mentors of various terrorist outfits are indulged in smuggling drugs to fund terrorists active in J&K and other parts of the country.
In its supplementary charge-sheet in Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) narco-terrorism case, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Tuesday substantiated that various terror groups were indulged in smuggling drugs to fund terrorists.
In this case Punjab Police had arrested one Hilal Ahmed of Pulwama in the month of April in the year 2020. Police had recovered an amount worth Rs 29 lakh from his possession. Keeping in view the seriousness, the matter was taken by the NIA for further investigation.
