Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Although Congress leadership tried to present a united face before the Bharat Singh Solanki during the workers' meeting here, the newly appointed AICC incharge of J&K was unhappy with the groupism in the party. During meetings with different delegations of the party, Solanki made it clear that he would not tolerate factionalism in the party. Highly placed sources said that during with meeting with Solanki in a hotel after a workers’ meeting, some leaders sought to draw his attention towards groupism and factionalism in the party. Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 5: A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, who was involved in the killing of an Army personnel and non-local labourers, was on Friday killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said. Acting on specific information about presence of a terrorist in Chotigam village of the south Kashmir district, a cordon and search operation was launched in the early hours by security forces, a police spokesman said. Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 4: The minimum temperature across Kashmir rose slightly to provide some respite from the intense cold conditions even as the weather office predicted the possibility of light snowfall in some higher reaches, officials said here on Friday. However, the night temperature, which settled several degrees below the freezing point, was still below normal for this time of the season at most places. ‘India’s GDP to grow by 7.3% in 2023-24’

New Delhi, Jan 5: The Indian economy is estimated to grow by 7.3 per cent in the 2023-24 fiscal against 7.2 per cent a year ago, mainly due to good show by mining and quarrying, manufacturing and certain segments of services sectors. As per the first advance estimates of national income released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Friday, the manufacturing sector output is estimated to grow to 6.5 per cent in the current fiscal compared to 1.3 per cent in 2022-23. Similarly, mining sector growth is estimated at 8.1 per cent in the current fiscal against 4.1 per cent in 2022-23. New Delhi, Jan 5: The number of cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 reported from 12 states till January 4 rose to 619, official sources said on Friday. They said 199 cases have been reported from Karnataka, 148 from Kerala, 110 from Maharashtra, 47 from Goa, 36 from Gujarat, 30 from Andhra Pradesh, 26 from Tamil Nadu, 15 from Delhi, 4 from Rajasthan 2 from Telangana and one each from Odisha and Haryana. Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: A Village Defence Guard (VDG) was found dead under mysterious circumstances with bullet injury on Friday in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. NEW DELHI, Jan 5: A local court on Friday sent a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist accused in 11 terror attack cases in Jammu and Kashmir to seven-day police custody. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Thursday arrested Javaid Ahmad Matoo (32) from the national capital. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Nabeela Wali sent Matoo to custody for a week on an application moved by the Delhi Police after he was produced before the court.
