Jammu, January 6: Teaching staff of the School Education Department of Jammu province has expressed anger over the “illogical” decision of the authorities to extend winter vacations in the schools of summer zones.
Instead of allowing all educational institutions to remain closed due to the harsh winter, authorities on Saturday issued an order in which it is clearly mentioned that winter vacations have been extended but the teachers have been asked to join the school and take online classes.

JAMMU, Jan 6: A fire that broke out in a forest area in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has spread to the Indian side and security forces are on alert to thwart any infiltration bid under the cover of the blaze, officials said on Saturday.
The fire has spread to the forest area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, they said. It broke out in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) late Friday night and spread to the Balakote sector in the Mendhar sub-division, the officials said.
They said an alert has been sounded along the LoC in view of the raging fire to ensure there is no attempt of infiltration by terrorists under the cover of the blaze.

POONCH, Jan 6: The Romeo Force of the Indian Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu-Kashmir Police conducted search operations in Poonch district on Saturday, police said.
Further details of the search operations are awaited.
As per officials, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered by the Romeo Force and SOG of Jammu-Kashmir Police on December 30, 2023, from the Kasblari area of Poonch, said officials.

JAMMU, Jan 6: A couple and their three-month-old child died on Saturday when their SUV veered off the road and fell into a 400-foot-deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, police said.
One person sustained serious injuries in the incident, they said.
Around 12:45 pm, a Bolero Camper that was on its way to Chassana from Tulli fell into the gorge near the Zero Point, killing three people on the spot and leaving one injured, said Station House Officer, Chassana, Suman Singh.

Srinagar, Jan 6: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday attached a residential house of a key conspirator in an arms seizure case here in Jammu and Kashmir, the agency said.
The house is located in Khan Colony in the city’s Chanapora area, it said.
“The property of accused Aamir Mushtaq Ganaie, identified as one of the masterminds in the case RC-4/22/NIA/JMU, was attached today as ‘proceeds of terrorism’ by an NIA team,” the agency said in a statement.
