Jammu, Oct 14: Infighting in the Jammu and Kashmir Congress intensified after the worst-ever defeat of the party in this part of the country. First time since 1947 Congress has secured the lowest-ever tally of six seats in the House of 90. Earlier the lowest tally was seven in the year 1996 assembly elections which were held after Governor rule in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is the first time in the history of the Congress that the party got only one seat in Jammu province.
In the 1996 Assembly elections when Congress got only seven seats, the party candidates won from Nowshera, Chhamb, Kalakote, and Billawar.

Jammu, Oct 14: A day after former Delhi Chief Minister and national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal demanded the ministerial berth of its only MLA in J&K, the party’s leader in the Rajya Sabha Sanjay Singh echoed this demand.
While addressing a thank-giving rally at Doda on Sunday, Kejriwal offered to give consultations to Omar Abdullah to run a government in a “half-state”. He also demanded accommodation of AAP’s only MLA in J&K in Omar Abdullah’s council of ministers.

JAMMU, Oct 14: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has invited Omar Abdullah, Leader of the Legislature Party of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, to form the new government in the J&K.
This invitation follows letters of support from various political leaders, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and members of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, the CPI(M), the Aam Aadmi Party, and several independent MLAs.
