Srinagar, Oct 1: A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was on Friday killed in an encounter which ensued after security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Shopian.
A police spokesperson said that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by troops of 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 178 battalion of CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir in village Rakhama, Shopian, at around 0500 hrs on Friday.

A police spokesperson said that police arrested an accused, identified as Muheeb Bashir Dar, involved in killing of Inspector Parvez Ahmad. “In this regard a Case FIR No 75/2021 U/S 302 IPC; 13,16,18,23, UL(P)Act has already been registered in Police Station Nowgam,” he said.
