Congress to stake claim on 3 Lok Sabha seats in J&K | | |

Jammu, Oct 25: Although leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) leaders to fight the Lok Sabha elections jointly to take on BJP, seat sharing is the biggest task before the constituents of the opposition alliance.
Sharing five seats among three constituents of INDIA in J&K, namely Congress, National Conference, and PDP, is a difficult task because these parties are staking claims for maximum seats.
Highly placed sources said that apart from two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, Congress will also stake a claim on the newly carved Anantnag-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency to get Lion’s share.
“During a meeting, Congress leaders argued that the party has a strong presence in South Kashmir as well as in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri of Jammu province so the party would be in a position to win this seat easily”, sources said and added that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections Congress had secured maximum votes from Poonch and Rajouri districts.

SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday predicted that there is no forecast of major rain or snowfall till November 2 in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Union territories.
However, Kashmir weather, an independent forecaster Faizan Arif said that a weak Western Disturbance is expected around October 27-28 with the possibility of light rain or snow in a few spots in higher reaches.

New Delhi, Oct 25: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Rs 22,303 crore subsidy on P&K fertilisers for the current Rabi season to ensure farmers continue to get soil nutrients at reasonable rates despite high global prices.
The decision was informed by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur after the Cabinet meeting.
The Union Cabinet has approved nutrient-based subsidy rates (NBS) for various nutrients, like nitrogen, phosphorous, potash and sulphur for the Rabi crop season (October 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024).

Jammu, Oct 25: A police officer died after his service rifle went off inside a security installation here on Wednesday, officials said.
Inspector Gurdeep Singh (48) of 7th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir armed police received a bullet from his own service rifle inside the battalion headquarters at Channi Himmat in the outskirts of the city, the officials said.
Singh was rushed to Government Medical College hospital, where he succumbed to injuries, they said. The officials said police have started inquest proceedings to ascertain the exact cause of the officer’s death — whether the rifle went off accidentally or deliberately.

NEW DELHI, Oct 25: GST authorities have issued show cause notices worth Rs 1 lakh crore to online gaming companies for tax evasion so far, a senior official said on October 25.
The official, however, said that there is no data yet of foreign gaming companies registering in India since October 1.
The government has amended the GST law, making it mandatory for overseas online gaming companies to register in India from October 1.
