Facing biggest ever political challenge Mehbooba re-elected as PDP president | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 26: Facing the biggest political challenge since its formation in the year 1998, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reposed faith in the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti to make the party relevant in the politics of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Struggling to retrieve its lost ground in the Kashmir Valley, the PDP on Thursday re-elected former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti as its president for a three-year term. Mehbooba Mufti's name was proposed by Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Veeri and seconded by General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Hanjura and former minister Abdul Gaffar Sofi. All the members of the electoral college supported the nomination through a voice vote. The election process was held simultaneously in Jammu, which was connected to the Srinagar office of the party online.
Mehbooba’s election for the eighth consecutive term was unanimous, party leaders said.
Mehbooba thanked party leaders for reposing their trust and electing her as their president.

Pak troops open fire in Arina, BSF retaliates | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 26: The Pakistan Rangers opened unprovoked firing at Indian posts along the International Border in the Arnia sector in Jammu Thursday night, a senior BSF official said, adding that its troops were retaliating “befittingly” to it. The firing by Pakistani troops started around 8 pm, the Border Security Force (BSF) said. “The firing is still on,” it added.
“Tonight at about 2000 hours, unprovoked firing started by Pak Rangers on BSF posts in Arnia area which is being befittingly retaliated by BSF troops,” the BSF said.
