The separatists with the help of militant groups till last year since the onset of militancy were issuing strike calls on October 27. October 27 marks the day when in 1947 Indian Army marched into Kashmir to thwart the entry of Pakistani tribesmen in Kashmir.
As for the first time, Accession Day on October 26 was celebrated with a gazetted holiday in Kashmir, there was interestingly no strike call issued by the separatists on October 27- something that used to be a regular practice of these groups. Not even a single statement was issued by any of the separatist leaders about October 27 or asking people to observe a strike on this day. This is the reason that people fearlessly travelled on roads and vehicles were ... | |
