Prez Murmu pays tributes To Mahatma Gandhi At Rajghat | | |

New Delhi, Oct 2: President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary on Sunday.
Both President Murmu and Vice-President Dhankhar visited Rajghat, the final resting place of Gandhi, and later Vijay Ghat, the memorial of Shastri, in Delhi.
Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary is observed globally as the International Day of Non-Violence, underlining his philosophy of non-violence to achieve social or political change. Several events are held in India and worldwide to mark the occasion.

New Delhi, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, and urged everyone to purchase khadi and handicrafts products as a tribute to him. He also fondly remembered India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary also falls on October 2, noting that he is admired across the country for his simplicity and decisiveness.
The Prime Minister visited the Raj Ghat and the Vijay Ghat, memorials to Gandhi and Shastri, respectively, to pay tributes to them.

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: A local policeman was martyred and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper injured on Sunday in a terror attack in J&K’s Pulwama district.
Jammu and Kashmir Police said on its Twitter page, “Militants fired upon joint naka party of CRPF & Police at Pinglana, #Pulwama. In this #militant attack, 01 Police personnel got #martyred & 01 CRPF personnel got injured. Reinforcement sent. Area being #cordoned. Further details shall follow”.

Srinagar, Oct 2: A Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said.
The terrorist was identified as Naseer Ahmad Bhat of the Nowpora area of Shopian, they said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Baskuchan area of the south Kashmir district after receiving specific input about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.
He said as the forces were conducting searches in the area, the terrorists fired at them.
The forces retaliated and an encounter ensued in which a local LeT terrorist was killed, the official said.

New Delhi, Oct 2: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will induct on Monday the first batch of indigenously developed light combat helicopter (LCH), in a boost to its combat prowess as the multi-role platform is capable of firing a range of missiles and other weapons.
The LCH, developed by state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), has been primarily designed for deployment in high-altitude regions.
It will be inducted into the IAF inventory at a ceremony in Jodhpur in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, officials said on Sunday.

New Delhi, Oct 2: The country is likely to add nearly 80 airports in the next four to five years, the aviation regulator has said, adding that aerodromes meanwhile need to fulfil certain requirements to start the operation of flights.
In the last eight years, the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 to 141, and as per the Ministry of Civil Aviation, this will grow up to 220 in the next four to five years.
