New Delhi, Oct 2: As Jammu and Kashmir achieved 100 per cent Open Defecation-Free (ODF) status, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said the state has attained new heights in development and growth after the abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah took to ‘X’, formerly Twitter, to share his feelings as Jammu and Kashmir have achieved 100 per cent ODF Plus model status in yet another remarkable accomplishment achieved during the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign.
“Heartiest congratulations to the people of J&K for achieving 100 per cent ODF Plus status. After the abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the J&K has attained new heights in development and growth,” Shah posted on ‘X’

New Delhi, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and said his timeless teachings "continue to illuminate our path."
The nation remembered Bapu and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, revered freedom fighters and stalwarts of India, both of whom were born on October 2. Modi on Monday also paid floral tributes to Shastri at Vijay Ghat memorial early in the morning.

Jammu, Oct 2: As record number of more than 65 lakh pilgrims have offered prayers at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine till the month of August this year and as many as 6900 foreign devotees also visited in the said period to the sanctum of sanctorum located in the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that in the said period in 2022, 60 lakh pilgrims visited the cave shrine but this year till August month, 65,31,142 devotees paid obeisance at the cave shrine.

Srinagar, Oct 2: Rains lashed parts of Kashmir valley and higher reaches, including Zojila pass, experienced fresh snowfall on Monday, Meteorological office said.
The MeT office said Zojila Pass on strategic Srinagar-Ladakh highway witnessed a fresh snowfall while parts of south Kashmir including Bandipora, Ganderbal experienced rains breaking the prolonged dry spell giving much respite to the people.
The source said currently it was raining in many places of south, north and central parts of Kashmir valley while upper reaches of Doda-Kishtwar in Jammu division witnessed snowfall. Rains lashed Samba while it was dry at rest of the places in J&K.

New Delhi, Oct 2: The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Monday said that the suspected ISIS terrorist Shahnawaz, who has been arrested along with his two associates, converted his wife Basanti Patel to Islam adding that the NIA’s most wanted was a mining engineer from the prestigious Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology.
Addressing a press briefing, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HS Dhaliwal, said, “Last month NIA declared award on three persons who have alleged involvement in blasts cases. Mago (AP), Oct 2: Border posts of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) along the India-China frontier from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh will have an additional team of intelligence officers for surveillance and information gathering.
A highly placed source said the central government has approved a proposal for establishing the set-up that will be known as the Border Intelligence Post (BIP).
The move bears significance in view of the increased Chinese activities along the border and transgressions by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
