Assembly polls will be held along with Lok Sabha elections, predicts Azad | | |

Jammu, Oct 29: Two days after the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notification for summary revision of electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir, veteran politician and chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) today predicted that maiden assembly elections in the Union Territory will be held simultaneously with the Parliament polls.
“Assembly and Lok Sabha elections would be held simultaneously with the Panchayat polls in the J&K in the month of March in 2024”, Azad said while addressing a public meeting at Ramban.
Azad, a former chief minister of the erstwhile state of J&K, called upon the party workers to start preparations for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
“In the month of December, I will start preparations for the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in J&K”, Azad said.
Important to mention here that the ECI has ordered a special summary revision of photo electoral rolls in all the Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in J&K with January 2024 as the qualifying date.

Arnia (J-K), Oct 29: Days after Pakistan Rangers violated ceasefire by targeting forward posts and villages along the International border here, the border residents have taken to cleaning underground bunkers, constructed over the years, to take shelter in.
A massive cleaning operation is underway to make the bunkers habitable, with locals demanding more such constructions to escape the cross-border shelling.

Srinagar, Oct 29: A Jammu and Kashmir police officer was shot at by militants in Eidgah area of Srinagar's old city on Sunday, officials said.
The police officer has been identified as Inspector Masroor Ahmad and was shifted to hospital for treatment, police said.
"Preliminary investigation reveals that a pistol was used in this terror crime," police said.

Srinagar, Oct 29: Security has been beefed up as police and the CRPF have intensified checking in Srinagar and other towns of Kashmir following Sunday's terrorist attack on a police officer who has been critically injured, officials said.
