LAHDC Kargil elections: Voting today, prestige of Rahul, Omar at stake | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2: Polling for the high-profile elections to the 26 seats of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil will be held on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s polling will decide the fate of 85 candidates including 22 from Congress, 17 each of the National Conference and BJP, and four of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). 25 Independents are also trying their luck.
The elections for the constitution of the fifth LAHDC-Kargil became prestigious for two constituents of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) namely the National Conference and Congress because top leadership of both the parties campaigned for their candidates.

New Delhi, Oct 3: A total of 107 MPs and MLAs have hate speech cases against them and 480 candidates with such cases have contested elections in the last five years, according to poll rights body Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
The ADR and National Election Watch (NEW) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all the incumbent MPs and MLAs, besides the unsuccessful candidates in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls held in the country in the said period.

In February 2021, the defence ministry sealed a Rs 48,000-crore deal with state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd for the procurement of 83 Tejas MK-1A jets for the IAF.
