Cong's volte-face on BDC elections: Pressure from Kashmir based leaders forced party to review its earlier decision to fight polls 10/8/2019 10:52:28 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: Following pressure from Valley based leaders, Congress has decided to rethink about its Friday's announcement to participate in the Block Development Council (BDC) elections, scheduled to be held on October 24. Although Congress leadership had unanimously decided to fight these elections on Friday during a meeting, now party has announced to revisit its earlier decision. Today's announcement of Congress has raised many eye-brows because party's volte-face would affect BDC polls, going to be held first time in J&K. "The party is taking a fresh review of the entire situation and getting feedback of different quarters especially from Kashmir Valley after the announcement of polls" chief spokesman of JKPCC Ravinder Sharma stated in a press note. Official sources said since January 1, 2019 to September 30 over 850 blood samples were taken from suspect cases whereas as many as 120 odd cases of dengue have been reported from the Jammu region. One dozen were of them were reported in the last week of September alone. Shockingly, the Jammu district has recorded highest number of dengue cases with as many as 38 confirmed cases from the city alone.
