Jammu, Nov 11: The BJP high command will convene a meeting with the leaders of J&K after the campaign for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections is over to devise a strategy for the Union Territory.
Highly placed sources in the BJP said that the central leadership has taken serious note of recent developments in the just concluded five-day session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in which a resolution seeking restoration of statehood was passed.
Sources said that a group within the BJP has cautioned the central leadership against gameplan of the ruling National Conference to aggressively pursue its agenda by using its majority in the Assembly. “This group has urged the Centre not to take any hasty decision of granting statehood to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir”, a source said, adding, “This group has argued that after getting the statehood the National Conference leadership with the support of some Kashmir centric parties would revert all important decisions taken by the Lieutenant Governor administration after August 5, 2019”.
