Jammu, Nov 13: The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is gripped with drug addiction as a huge chunk of the population has become drug addicts.
During the maiden meeting of the state-level committee of the narco coordination centre held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar it was informed that as per a consumption survey, Jammu and Kashmir has 6 lakh people affected by drug-related issues which are approximately 4.6% population of the Union territory of which 90% users are from 17-33 age group.
It was informed that Jammu and Kashmir is situated in close vicinity to the golden crescent which produces 80 percent of the world's opium and is considered as the prime source of the illicit drug trade.
The meeting outlined broad project contours for tackling the drug menace in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi, Nov 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will transfer the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to more than 1.47 lakh beneficiaries of Tripura on Sunday (November 14, 2021) via video conferencing.
The Prime Minister's Office said that over Rs 700 crore will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on the occasion.

SRINAGAR, Nov 13: The Government today informed that 181 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 26 from Jammu division and 155 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 334006.
Moreover, 95 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 15from Jammu Division and 80 from Kashmir Division.

Srinagar, Nov 13: Kashmir valley continued to shiver in cold as minimum temperature showed a further dip making nights more colder while temperature in Drass and kargil also plunged disrupting normal life on Sunday.
