Jammu, Nov 11: The on-going exercise of revision of the electoral rolls for the maiden assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be completed on November 25. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already set a new deadline of November 25 for the final date for publication of electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir.
To provide opportunity to the youngsters attaining the age of 18 years on October 1 or earlier the deadline was extended from October 31 to November 25.

JAMMU, Nov 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Police is all set to procure seven mine-protected vehicles (MPVs), five remotely operated vehicles (RoVs), and 18 under-vehicle surveillance systems (UVSS), officials said on Sunday.
The special vehicles and equipment will boost the security and surveillance abilities of the Jammu and Kashmir Police engaged in counter-terrorism operations, they said.
Police headquarters recently floated bids on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal for purchasing the security equipment and vehicles.
According to officials, the vehicles should protect police personnel against improvised explosive device (IED) and mine attacks.

Srinagar, Nov 13: Authorities in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir late Saturday withdrew the controversial order issued banning use of heating appliances such as blowers, heaters and radiators which had provoked sharp criticism from the locals and politicians.
The controversial order was issued on Friday by District Magistrate (DM) Ganderbal Shyambir saying the step to ban heating appliances was taken to avoid any damage to transmission lines, unscheduled power cuts and thereby causing inconvenience to the general public and disruption of services of emergent nature and particularly patient-care.

New Delhi, Nov 13: The collegium system for appointment of judges to the higher judiciary can be improved and criticising it without coming up with an alternative "does not lead us anywhere," former Chief Justice of India TS Thakur has said.

New Delhi, Nov 13: The BSF has been "bombarded" by the onslaught of drone flights from across the Pakistan border on the western front, and instances of the aerial vehicles bringing drugs, arms and ammunition more than doubled in 2022, the force's Director General Pankaj Kumar Singh has said.
