NC-PDP ‘cold war’ after Mehbooba’s visit to nomad community | | |

Srinagar, Nov 24: The recent surprise visit of former Chief Minister and the Peoples Democratic Party, president, Mehbooba Mufti to the tribal community in the upper reaches of Pahalgam in south Kashmir has left the National Conference allegedly annoyed. Whereas both the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party are key constituents of the so called Gupkar alliance, Mehbooba’s visit to the area, without taking the NC into confidence, is understood to have annoyed latter’s leadership.
Sources said some senior leaders from the NC were also planning to the visit the Pahalgam belt as they were “directly related to the nomads.”
“NC leaders have relations in the nomad community but to take extra mileage she went ahead and this proved a hiccup,” said a political analyst.
He said the leaders from the nomad community should have been given a chance to visit the area first.
Sources said the NC leadership wants the Abdullahs to pick up the issue with Mehbooba.

Jammu, Nov 24: Over half a dozen youth leaders of PDP under scanner after National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday questioned the PDP’s youth leader Waheed ur Rehman Parra.
Parra, who is the blue-eyed boy of PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, was questioned in connection with the Dy-SP Devinder Singh and Hizbul Mujahideen commander Naveed Babu’s arrest case, in New Delhi.
Highly placed sources said that over half a dozen youth leaders of PDP, who are closed confident of Parra, were under scanner because these young leaders have been working as agents of Para in Jammu.

Poonch, Nov 24: The encroachment of government land allegedly with the help of revenue officials particularly Patwaris, in Poonch district, has opened a Pandora’s box.
Sources told Early Times these overstaying Patwaris have been facilitating encroachers to grab government land in and around Poonch district. Although many Patwaris are transferred on a regular basis but there are some who remain in the periphery of Poonch town with the help of influential political leaders.

SRINAGAR, Nov 24: Following 495 more recoveries the COVID-19 recovered patients crossed the one lakh mark in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and reached 1, 00,322 today. With 431 new cases the total number of positive cases reached 1, 07,330. The death toll reached 1651 with 10 deaths being reported in past 24 hours.
