NC’s growing influence forces Cong to launch mass contact programme in Jammu region | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: In a bid to reclaim its political stronghold in the Jammu region, Congress has initiated an ambitious mass contact programme. The move comes as the ruling National Conference (NC) intensifies its efforts to expand its footprint in Jammu province, traditionally considered a bastion of Congress. The Congress leadership aims to reconnect with voters and reestablish its relevance in the face of NC’s rising popularity.
As part of its mass contact programme, the Congress on Tuesday organized a rally at Rajouri town which was addressed by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Tariq Hameed Karra.
Rajouri is the only Assembly segment in Jammu province which was won by the Congress in the just concluded Assembly elections.
The urgency for Congress stems from its lackluster performance in the last assembly elections.
