RTI portal set to go live: Omar Govt's push for transparent governance | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 27: The notification issued by the General Administration Department on Tuesday is a clear indication that Omar Abdullah is going to bring transparency and accountability to the governance by developing and making the “RTI portal” functional.
Jammu and Kashmir is among the few states and Union Territories in the country that lack online filing of RTI applications. With this decision, information seekers will file online and seek information.
On Tuesday, the GAD issued a circular in which it was mentioned that the RTI portal would be made fully functional by December 10 to enhance the efficiency of processing and responding to Right to Information applications. Through this online portal, citizens can file their Right to Information (RTI) requests, track their status, and receive responses electronically.
This development, aimed at enhancing transparency and governance, was announced in a circular by Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD).
