New Delhi, Nov 28: Asserting that regional cinema is no more regional and it has gone to national and international, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur on Monday reiterated that government is committed to give a strong emphasis to regional cinema and provide a platform for its growth.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the 53rd International Films Festival of India at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa Thakur said, “IFFI not only entertained but also educated us. IFFI tickled our humour and refined their senses. The IFFI opened up a nuanced world of cinema for audiences across the region both young and old, new and festival veterans.”

Govt announces winter vacations for Leh Distt from Dec-05 to Feb-28 | | |

LEH, Nov 28: The government on Monday announced winter vacations in a phased manner for all government and private schools of Leh district from December-05 to February-28.
The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Leh with the approval of concerned Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Developed Council (LADHC) has issued the official orders in this regard.
CEO Leh said that as approved by the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Leh, the government and private schools shall observe winter vacations from December-05.

Jammu, Nov 28: Four persons, including Imam of a mosque, were killed when a car they were travelling in skidded off and plunged into the gorge on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district on Monday.

Jammu, Nov 28: A day after getting the eviction notice of her Anantnag accommodation, former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehboob Mufti vacated her Gupkar residence on Monday and shifted to a private house.
As per the notice issued on October 15, Deputy Director Estates Department Kashmir has served an eviction notice to Mehbooba Mufti to vacate the Fairview residence in which her family lives since 2005.

New Delhi, Nov 28: India's first launchpad and mission control centre designed and operated by a private player has been inaugurated at the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, space startup Agnikul Cosmos announced on Monday.
The startup, incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, also plans to launch its customisable Agnibaan rocket from the launchpad before the end of this year.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S Somanath inaugurated the Agnikul Launchpad on November 25.
