Jammu, Nov 2: Jammu and Kashmir Bank for the past five years violated the guidelines issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in accordance to which Chairman of the Audit Committee in the bank shall be an independent Director. However, in violation of the provisions, the Chairman of the Audit Committee for the years 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2016-17 was a non-independent Director. This has put a big question mark on the authenticity of the audits conducted with the bank from 2013 to the end of the financial year 2017.

Anantnag, Nov 2: The Food Safety and Standards Department has declared the PDS rice, which was being distributed in Anchidoora locality of Anantnag town, unsafe and substandard.
The Food Safety and Standards Department had lifted the sample from a Fair Price Shop in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district in the month of September this year. In its reports, the Food Analyst of Kashmir, Mufti Imtiyaz Ahmad Farooqi said that the sample doesn’t conform to the standards prescribed for milled rice.

Srinagar, Nov 2: Nights in the Kashmir Valley became colder as the mercury plunged several notches and the famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded minus 2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The MeT forecast mainly dry weather to continue in the valley for the next 24 hours.
Drass was the coldest region in Ladakh at minus 8.4 degrees Celsius, against the minus 10 the previous night, showing a considerable improvement in the night temperature in the UT, the MeT said.
He said Leh and Kargil in Ladakh Union Territory (UT) witnessed minus 2.1 degrees Celsius and minus 3.5 degrees Celsius as night temperature respectively, the MeT office added.

Srinagar, Nov 2: Security forces on Tuesday apprehended an Over Ground Worker (OGW) and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
