Suspense prevails over Cong’s role

Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 4: Although legislators of the Congress party attended the coalition’s meeting on Sunday to devise a strategy for the Assembly session, suspense still prevails over the grand old party’s role in the government. The Congress leadership claims to be part of the coalition regime in Jammu and Kashmir but the National Conference is not giving any importance to the party due to numbers in the Assembly. After managing the support of five Independents, a lone MLA of the CPM, and the Aam Aadmi Party legislator, the National Conference has managed the majority on its own in the Assembly. With 42 MLAs in its command, the National Conference has the support of seven more members in the Assembly. As of now, the National Conference has the support of 49 MLAs in the House as the number has been reduced to 89 after the untimely demise of BJP legislator Devender Singh Rana.
