Jammu, Nov 6: Apparently sending an olive branch to the Congress high command, former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday praised Congress for its secular policy.
Over two months after severing 50-year relations with his party Ghulam Nabi Azad’s love for Congress again revived on Sunday when he said that only Congress could challenge Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, while Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is “merely a party of UT Delhi”.
Months after exiting the decades-long association with the Congress party, Azad said that he was not against its policy of secularism, but its weak party system.
While talking to a news agency at Azad said, “Although I have separated from Congress, I wasn’t against their policy of secularism. It was only due to the party’s system getting weakened. I would still want Congress to perform well in Gujarat and HP Assembly polls. AAP isn’t capable to do so”.

Srinagar, Nov 6: Rain and snow lashed parts of Jammu and Kashmir since overnight while as the meteorological department here forecast more wet weather in the next 24 hours.
Reports said that higher reaches received snowfall while plains had good amount of rainfall. Gulmarg plains also had light snowfall.
A meteorological department official said in last 24 hours till 0830 hours, Srinagar received 26.1mm of rain, Qazigund 16.0mm, Pahalgam 14.3mm, Kupwara 16.2mm, Kukernag 11.4mm, Gulmarg 16.8mm, Jammu 16.2mm, Banihal 24.8mm, Batote 17.9mm, Katra 17.0mm, Bhaderwah 13.2mm and Kathua 10.2mm.

Jammu/SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Mughal and SSG roads have been closed for vehicular movement due to snowfall, officials said on Sunday.
The Mughal road, connecting twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Shopian was closed for traffic after midnight snowfall at several places enroute including Pir Ki Gali (PKG), Mansar Mohre and Posha, a police officer said .

New Delhi, Nov 6: Eligible employees who had not opted for enhanced pension coverage prior to 2014 can jointly do so with their employers within the next four months after the Supreme Court upheld the Employees’ Pension (Amendment) Scheme, 2014.
Employees who were existing EPS members as on September 1, 2014 can contribute up to 8.33 per cent of their ‘actual’ salaries -- as against 8.33 per cent of the pensionable salary capped atRs15,000 a month -- towards pension.
