Alert sounded in Kashmir ahead of Supreme Court’s verdict on Art 370

Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 9: As Kashmir-centric parties are trying to create a fear psychosis among the masses by giving provocative statements, an alert has been sounded in Valley ahead of the Supreme Court’s verdict on Article 370. While the National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah aired apprehension that he would be arrested before the pronouncement of the verdict, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti charged the authorities with preparing lists of her party workers in different police stations. The Supreme Court’s verdict on the petitions filed against the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act will come on Monday. On Saturday senior police and administration officials held a meeting to review the law and order situation in Kashmir Valley. Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 9 : A fast track court in Srinagar Saturday convicted a man for sexually assaulting his minor daughter. After hearing Additional Public Prosecutor Muhammad Maqbool Shah and defence counsel, POSCO court presided over by Aarti Mohan said that prosecution has established the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt, a Srinagar based news agency reported. “The prosecution has also succeeded in establishing offence of sexual harassment also against the accused person. 7.43 lakh ‘fake job cards’ deleted under MNREGA last year: Centre

Agencies New Delhi, Dec 9: More than 7.43 lakh “fake” job cards under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme were deleted in 2022-23, of which over 2.96 lakh were in Uttar Pradesh, the Centre has said in the Lok Sabha. In a written response to a question this week, Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti shared data on fake job cards. The data showed 7,43,457 fake job cards were deleted in 2022-23 and 3,06,944 in 2021-22. Uttar Pradesh accounted for the highest number of deletions on account of job cards being fake. As many as 67,937 fake job cards were deleted in Uttar Pradesh in 2021-23 and the number increased to 2,96,464 in 2022-23. ...
