Gadbad, Gotala! Rs 78.63 lakh paid to 72 ‘non- existent’ migrant families in Jammu | | |

Jammu, Dec 10: The mismanagement in disbursement of cash relief to the migrant families in Jammu has punctured the claims that relief to crisis ridden families was being provided with utmost order.
Official documents in possession of Early Times reveal that the database of Jammu migrants and their families had not been prepared and was not updated on account of births, deaths, separation etc. despite the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of J&K identifying the eligible beneficiaries, after due verification of the migrant families.
Payment of arrears amounting to Rs 78.63 lakh was made to 72 migrant families, who were neither in the list prepared by the CID of J&K, nor were they on the list prepared on the directions of Courts.
Documents reveal further that excess disbursement of cash assistance of Rs 67.14 lakh to 84 migrant families and inadmissible payment of arrears of Rs 75.53 lakh was made to 49 migrant families for the period prior to their registration as migrants. Jammu, Dec 10: Jammu and Kashmir government has once issued an official order for the detachment of teachers who have been deployed in different government departments for administrative works.
Issuing detachment orders of teachers has become a routine exercise in the Education Department but those at the helm of affairs have failed to detach influential teachers who have been serving in schools located in the city and adjoining localities.

Srinagar, Dec 10: Two policemen were killed policemen in a militant attack in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday, officials said.
The two slain cops were identified as senior grade constable Mohammad Sultan and Constable Fayaz Ahmad.
Police said the attack took place at Gulshan Chowk of the Bandipora.

SRINAGAR, Dec 10: At least ten children, aged below 7 years, were tested positive for Covid-19 in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
An official from Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore said that today out of ten persons tested positive for Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test, seven are minors, aged below seven years.

Srinagar, Dec 10: Intense cold continued in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday as Srinagar had the coldest night of the season with mercury plummeting to minus 2.6°C.
A meteorological department official said that the minimum temperature in Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, was below two degrees than the normal for this time of the year. Today’s minimum temperature surpassed that of December 1 when the mercury fell to minus 2.5°C, he said.

Srinagar, Dec 10: The historical Mughal road connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri in Jammu division reopened for vehicular traffic after five days on Friday, a traffic police official said.
The road was closed on December 5 following snowfall on upper reaches of Kashmir including on the Mughal road.
