Panchayat members' stir likely to prove counter-productive for BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 12: Even as All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) has ended its strike on Tuesday, brewing anger among elected Panchayat members is likely to be proved counter-productive for BJP in the days to come. During their week along agitation, agitating Panchayat members have targeted government in particular and BJP leadership in general for betraying elected Panchayat members.
Interestingly most of the Panchayat members who were active in the week-long stir were associated with the BJP but most of the elected Panches and Sarpanches belong to the party, are annoyed with the leadership for backstabbing them. During the recently held Block Development Councils elections, most of the BJP supported Panchayats members had voted against party's official candidates because party leadership had given mandates to outsiders who were not even basic members of the party.

SRINAGAR, Dec 12: The so called "Third Front" in Kashmir led by a senior politician from north Kashmir is in talks with an ousted leader of the Peoples Democratic Party to "explore options of contesting" upcoming Assembly elections in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir "jointly as a secret alliance".
Sources said soon after returning from Dubai, the ousted PDP leader, who is a businessman turned politician, has started negotiations with the "third front" that comprises of politicians including a former minister from Tangmrag constituency, apart from a senior leader from central Kashmir's Budgam and their allies.
