Jammu, Dec 12: Former J&K chief minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that the government is using newspapers in the union territory as instruments of propaganda.
Addressing a gathering here, Omar said, “Prior to August 5, 2019, the local newspapers in J&K used to report the truth fearlessly.
Headlines of the papers used to shake the rulers. Today you won’t find anything except government press notes in these newspapers. These are filled with the news items like so and so officers cut a ribbon here, had tea somewhere and took a meeting.”

Anantnag, Dec 12: Former Chief Minister and Vice-President Jammu Kashmir National Conference Omar Abdullah on Sunday accused New Delhi of hatching conspiracies against Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Deceleration (PAGD).
“There is no doubt that our rulers don’t like PAGD. Conspiracies were being hatched against PAGD to weaken it and few our colleagues in PAGD were made to leave it, however all the constituents of PAGD are well aware of these conspiracies and will not allow them to succeed,” Omar told reporters on being asked why the administration in Jammu and Kashmir was selective in permitting political parties to hold rallies and conventions.

Jammu, Dec 12: Even as two policemen were killed in Bandipora on December 10, the attack was carried out to “shift focus” from public love in Kashmir for Chief of the Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat.
Sources said the police have inputs that the attack was carried out by Pakistani militant, who had instructions from his handlers across the border to carry out the attack at the given point of time.
